Beomsu Kim

Beomsu Kim is the Managing Partner at KL Partners.

Prior to establishing KL Partners, Mr. Kim was a partner at Shin & Kim leading the International Dispute Resolution practice group over 16 years. He also had previously served as a judge at the district courts of Korea for nine years before joining Shin & Kim.

His main areas of practice are international arbitration and cross-border litigation. He is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)’s International Court of Arbitration and has served as an arbitrator in arbitration proceedings under the auspices of the ICC, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), among others. Mr. Beomsu Kim also represents investors in the first ever investor-state dispute (ISD).

Mr. Kim is the former President of the Korean Council of International Arbitration (KOCIA) and was a member of the Management Committee of the Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center (SIDRC). He also served as an advisor to the KCAB International Committee. He is the former Executive Director of International Relations for the Korean Bar Association.

Mr. Kim has consistently been chosen as a leading lawyer in the fields of international arbitration and corporate matters, and has continuously received favorable reviews in leading foreign legal journals such as Chambers, IFLR1000 and Legal500. Of particular note, Mr. Kim was named by ALB as one of “Asia’s Super 50 Dispute Lawyers” in 2021, considering factors such as expertise, visibility, reputation and dedicated client service.

Seong Hoon (Sean) Yi

Seong Hoon (Sean) Yi is the Chair of the M&A/Corporate Group at the Firm and focuses his practice on representing domestic and foreign clients in M&A transactions.

Mr. Yi has worked on some of the most high-profile M&A transactions in Korea and is regularly recognized as a leading attorney in the field of Corporate/M&A in Korea.

Prior to joining KL Partners, Mr. Yi was the Co-Chair of the Corporate Group at Shin & Kim.
Mr. Yi is also a professor at Yonsei University law school.

Neung Kyu Lee

Neung Kyu Lee is a partner at the firm and Chair of the Litigation Practice Group, and his practice focuses on litigation related to product liability disputes, construction/real estate disputes, healthcare practice, and insolvency.

Mr. Lee began his legal career as a judge in the Seoul District Court. After leaving the court, Mr. Lee joined Kim & Chang where he specialized in general civil disputes, criminal matters, and labor/employment disputes for about 15 years. Before joining KL Partners, he founded his own law firm, Neung Kyu Lee Law Office.

In his distinguished career spanning over two decades, Mr. Lee has handled many high-profile and complex cases, including defending foreign and domestic carmakers in the sudden unintended acceleration accidents when the issue was first widely reported in 2000; defending the baby powder manufacturer in the product liability case involving asbestos fiber found in baby powder; and defending the hospital in a case involving misdiagnosis of child deformity; and unfair competition case involving poaching of a competitor’s employee.

Ki Seong Park

Ki Seong Park is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group at the firm and focuses his practice on representing domestic and foreign clients in disputes related to finance, securities, antitrust, commercial transactions and hostile mergers & acquisitions, as well as criminal cases.

Mr. Park handles major Korean court litigations at the firm and is recognized as a rising star in the Korean litigation field.

Seonho Kim

Seonho Kim is one of the prominent partners of the firm’s Corporate/M&A group, M&A, foreign investment and antitrust practices as one of the partners of KL Partners advising various corporate clients and is advising clients in labor and compliance matters as well.

Mr. Kim has handled various buy-out transactions, consolidation of public companies, cross-border investments, joint ventures and antitrust disputes during his professional career. Mr. Kim was reported by the Korea Economic Daily as promising young lawyer in the buy-out M&A field, based on its totaling of the buy-out transactions closed in 2015. Mr. Kim ranked first in the number of transactions for closing six buy-outs and ranked second in the deal amount for closing transactions.
